Poems and Stories by the writer Daniel Eugene Wilcox

Picture

The Storied Mask

The vast kaleidoscoped cosmos
On black velvet background
Galactic star swirls,
One great masked Chagall

We turn our stained-glass faces…

Above us in infinite light years,
Visioning vivid rose and royal blue,
So covered the costumed earth,
Weeping colors of bowed rain,

We turn our stained-glass faces…

In this troubled world's lastness,
From the very beforeness,
Out from the mummering
Great cosmic Blast,

We turn our stained-glass faces…

A hooded violet trope
That hurtled us across time
Into the endless question
Before the troubled asking;

We turn our stained-glass faces…

Our distraught disguises
Cascading down,
Away from the pierced harshness
Of wintered survival rage
To stare at the flaming sun,

We turn our stained-glass faces…

Gleaming through, unmerry
Makers, not mindfully blind
But behind metaphor's
Vivid translucent veil,

We turn our stained-glass faces…

Seeing the One True Face,
Stained with the sorrow
Of ever-becoming visually real,
Ruby, emerald, and sapphire,

Yes, we turn our stained-glass faces

To one finally white endless strobe,
Encompassing all despaired weeping
In the brightness of transcendent becoming,
Unlimited strophe of the cosmic Masque
Of all Dancing.

One

So awe fulled the birthing
             of God's presence, new cauled
            in humble manger's destiny,

The base and apex of
             a starred cave's presents
             of all future festivals

Yet abandoned, forsaken to
             the crowned world's nails,
             every man's cursedness;

Farthest reach of faith
             this Apocalypso dancer
             crosses the Cosmos,

Morning us night-less;
              he compassions Earth
             ever peopling Heaven,

 Emptying the pitiless bottom
             zeroing Apollyon
             into ever's Now

Beloved one, Isa, Eashoa, Jesus
            child of the  masses
             point man for us all.

Dark Energy

Featureless dark energy
From vacuum fluctuations
Of the quantum metatech
Pervade the hidden universe

Permeating all of space timed
Expanding outward
Creating the exploding cosmos
Accelerating beyond
The Scalar field or cosmological constant

Strong negative pressure, yes, creative tension
And the brightness of the supernova
Crossing billions of light years--redshifted
Evidence of spaced darkness

Oh Quintessence--superstringed vibrations
From the Musician of all Light
Only the Transcendent One
Can make and hide it
Among the galaxies and stars
For us to stare up into the visible darkness
Spangled with Light
